Brighter Boys Project
Mentoring-based support focused on confidence, connection, and helping boys navigate challenges at school and in life.
A Space Where Boys Feel Understood
About the program
What is Brighter Boys?
Brighter Boys is not tutoring and it’s not therapy.
It’s a space where boys can feel comfortable, supported, and understood.
Through mentoring, conversation, and connection, we help boys build confidence, navigate challenges, and feel less alone in what they’re going through.
Who is this program for?
Brighter Boys is designed for boys who:
Struggle with confidence
Feel misunderstood or disconnected
Are experiencing challenges at school (socially or emotionally)
Are disengaged or unmotivated
Would benefit from a positive, relatable role model
Is this therapy?
No. Brighter Boys is not therapy.
It’s a mentoring-based program focused on connection, guidance, and support.
While it is run within a safe and supportive environment, it is not a clinical service.
If a child requires specialised therapeutic support, we can always guide families towards appropriate services.
What happens in a session
Sessions are relaxed, supportive, and focused on building connection.
Each session may include:
Conversations about school, friendships, and challenges
Guidance and support from a relatable mentor
Activities that build confidence and connection
A space where boys can talk openly without judgement
There’s no pressure — just support, guidance, and someone in their corner.
Meet our ambassador, Nick.
There’s something about Nick that’s hard to put into words but every child feels it and every parent sees it. Kids are drawn to him almost instantly. They feel comfortable around him, they trust him, and they open up in ways that often surprise their parents.
Parents will say things like, “I’ve never seen him talk like that before,” or “He actually listens to Nick.” And that’s when it clicks… it’s not just what Nick says, it’s how he makes them feel.
Nick is trained to support young people but most of what makes him so special can’t be taught. It’s in the way he shows up, the way he connects, the way he just gets them.
Nick is still in high school, learning to navigate the trials and tribulations of adolescence so he understands what our young people are going through. The pressure, the friendships, the stuff they don’t always say out loud. He’s not trying to relate… he just does.
For a lot of boys, Nick becomes more than just someone they see each week. He becomes someone they trust, someone they look up to, and someone they know is in their corner.
Kick and Connect
Come along to our FREE hangout for young boys seeking connection in a pressure-free environment. Every Wednesday at 5:20pm.
The Story Behind Brighter Boys
Brighter Boys was created in honour of Gabe… someone who had a rare way of making people feel seen, supported, and understood.
He showed up for people. Not in a big, loud way but in the quiet, consistent way that actually makes a difference. The kind of presence that makes you feel like you’re not alone, even when things are hard.
And that’s exactly what Brighter Boys is built on.
Because so many boys are navigating things they don’t always talk about: pressure at school, friendships, confidence, and feeling like they have to handle everything on their own.
This program exists to give them something different.
A space where they can feel comfortable, where they don’t have to pretend, and where they have someone in their corner who genuinely gets it.
That’s where Nick comes in.
Nick carries this in a way that feels natural. The way he connects, the way boys trust him, the way they open up around him reflects exactly what Brighter Boys was created to be.
Because just like those who were lucky enough to know Gabe would say, sometimes the right person showing up at the right time can change everything.
What Makes This Different?
Many boys don’t respond to traditional support environments.
They’re less likely to open up in structured or clinical settings, but they do when they feel comfortable, understood, and not judged.
Brighter Boys is built around connection first.
Led within a social work-informed environment, the focus is on building trust, confidence, and helping boys feel supported in a way that actually works for them.
